A team of eight will participate in the Run Across Illinois for Mental Health as part of the Defeat the Stigma Project, beginning on Wednesday, May 17. Runners are welcomed to join the effort. The run will raise funds for NAMI-Illinois. Donations may be made at https://namiillinois.networkforgood.com/.
This year’s route will start in Clinton, crossing the bridge into Fulton, and continuing to Morrison, and ending in Dixon, Illinois, on the first day. The team will continue eastbound to Chicago for four days to raise awareness for mental health illness and suicide prevention.
The group will also speak about their efforts and their personal journeys through recovery at 7 p.m. at Gabel Chiropractic, 217 6th Ave. S, Clinton, Iowa. Reservations are not required to attend, but are appreciated. RSVP by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Defeat the Stigma Project has joined forces with Flatlander Ultrarunners of Chicago and Ten Junk Miles Podcast Show to run across Illinois. Their goal is to reach as many people as possible and make it acceptable to talk about mental health and mental illnesses.
