What’s in it For Me?
If you are still undecided about attending the NAMI Illinois 2019 State Conference, we have some examples of the not-to-be-missed comprehensive schedule to help you make your decision.
If you’re a family member of someone living with mental illness, consider these possibilities: a session on how Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) of police officers will help when you need to call for assistance; one where a lawyer instructs how to establish trusts for your family member; or, a session on how to endure those visits to the emergency room.
If you’re living with a mental illness, we’ve got sessions for you, too. For example, a presentation on housing options, another one regarding supported employment and its benefits, and a session on Thresholds “Emerge” program for young adults are among the offerings you’ll find helpful.
For mental health professionals, the conference will offer you 12.5 CEUs by attending sessions such as Art-Making to Facilitate DBT/CBT Behavioral Integration, Tangible Intervention for Treating Clients with Bipolar Disorder, and Expanding Access to Preventative Services and Early Treatment, to name just a few.
And we haven’t forgotten our NAMI Leaders, with sessions on a new program developed by a NAMI Illinois affiliate, a panel of NAMI leaders talking about grants, getting volunteers, and community services, and a presentation on providing services in rural areas in Illinois.
